I graduated in 1981 with a thesis on Monuments Restoration. I started working as a freelance Architect the following year - and my activity still goes on today.
Living and working in Siena, since the beginning I have been so lucky to deal with various restorations of historical buildings and transformations of architectural complexes which, having lost their original use, were restored to other uses, compatible with their original structure.
This significant experience started developing in me a specific attention, which later turned into admiration and respect, for all those who, before us, have worked hardly to hand over us these architecture masterpieces.
I came thus to believe that each building, each urbanized place, as well as the agricultural areas are "places", evolving organisms that talk to us... the architect's task is to listen, learn and only later intervene "in tiptoe". Not to destroy, but to bring his own contribution to preserve and enhance, or improve, situations in bad state of conservation.
More recently I have been positively engaged by the bio-architecture matters, beginning to deepen my knowledge in the sectors of technology and biocompatible materials, in order to help improve health and living conditions of people in their community.
My current wish is to be able to take advantage of the experience gained in the recent years in other situations, also abroad. I’m attracted by idea of testing myself in completely different contexts, where it is absolutely necessary (and to me exciting and fascinating) "acculturize" myself…
